Outgoing Mail March 14: The Small Stuff

These Christmas cards are part of the swap-bot "Christmas Cards in March" swap. I think Christmas cards are fun any time of year!

This postcard goes to Brett for the "I Traveled Here..." postcard swap on swap-bot. Funny, this was the first time I've had a male swap-bot partner!

These goodies go to Linda for the "It's a Spring Theme!" swap-bot swap. Hope she likes what I picked out!

Here's my first try making a calendar envelope. This houses a letter going to my friend in Miami.

Outgoing Mail March 14: My first package swap!

I ended up sending out a LOT of stuff yesterday.

First is my first real package swap on swap-bot, "Small Easter Basket Swap" going out to Joanna. I was really excited to send my first real package for a swap.

All the goodies:

Packed in nice and snug:

All wrapped and ready to go:

Mail! ....New Supplies

So I'm going to re purpose this blog into my mail blog I think.

Here are some new supplies I've bought recently.

From the K-Mart that's closing out in my town, a pack of note cards and some stickers that were 40% off:

The other day we drove up to China Town and in my favorite shop I found Hello Kitty paper and a couple mini deco tapes:

College, etc.

I feel in a blogging mood today. I'm not quite sure why. I think maybe being back in school just has me in the mood to write.

I don't like how college has become about getting in and out quickly, taking boring or unnecessary classes because that's what your degree needs, and how everyone just does what they're told because they don't realize they have a choice in their education.

I've avoided seeing my adviser as much as possible. I'd rather choose my classes online so I don't have to listen to their advice. I think it's great they're there if I need them, but I'm going to school for myself so I want to take charge of it.

I don't know what I want to major in so I'm going to take the classes I want to take. I've taken a few of the boring gen. ed. type classes but this semester I decided I don't want to do that either (most of my classes do count for my humanities credits though). When I decide what I want to major in I'll take the classes I need to.

This semester I'm taking German, Psychology, Library Cataloging, Art History, and Ballet. I pretty much like all of them so far. They're fun and interesting and different.
So far Psychology is a little boring because I started AP Psychology in high school before I graduated early. I have a pretty good memory so I already know most of what we've covered so far. I know it will get more interesting though.

I love German class a lot! I took German sophomore year of high school (and still remember probably 80% of it!). There's just something about the type of people who take German too. Everyone is friendly and it's a nice relaxed atmosphere.

I wanted to try out a library science class and cataloging was the only one that fit my schedule. It's an online class and there are only 7 of us in it. Parts of it are a little difficult but I do want to try more library classes next semester.

Art History is also online. It's pretty fun and so far fairly simple in format.

Ballet is super fun of course! My class is mostly beginners but my teacher thinks we're all naturals and we've been racing along. I think I'm actually the worst in the class. My corrections have been fairly minor though and I understand what I'm doing so that's reassuring.

January Recap

Of course, the most important thing was graduating early. I am still in detox mode though and spend the day sitting around on the computer. I had ideas in my head of all the great things I'd do- knit, read, study things that actually interest me, practice instruments, write letters, practice karate... I need to start doing more soon.

In January I spent approximately 33.58 hours on the mat, including teaching. I think that's low compared to other months but this month did include new years and a trip to Chicago with a friend's family.

I found out my tambura group is doing a concert in April as well as the locations for the adult and junior festivals. We have a lot of singing for our performance which is intimidating.

I started the Hundred Push Ups Program. This week is week two; it's going well so far. I found a friend to do it with me too.

I can't wait for it to get warm. I plan on taking lots of walks and learning to make Dorodango mud balls.
